Dystopian Wars - Gerüchte/Neuerscheinungen

Was denn, noch kein Dystopian Wars Thread hier? Man, man, man, alles muss man selber machen! :D

Zitat
The world of Dystopian Wars is similar to our own, but subtly different. The year is 1870 and the Industrial Revolution occurred decades earlier than in our own world. Technology is far advanced, and in many cases, unrecognisable, which has led to the development of fantastic naval vessels, hulking land ships and terror from the skies in the form of airships and war balloons.

Release: NOVEMBER.

Release:

Zitat
Dystopian Wars will be in stores at the end of November, and shipping from our online shop in early December. Watch out for more news about Dystopian Wars coming soon.

Zitat
Book 1: Four Nations + Core Rules

Core rules and a guide to these nations with a lot of detail on their models. We wanted to give folk the chance to get a view of the forces. I won't use the world complete, because we'll come up with more ideas and an army will grow, but we're talking 15 to 20 models per faction in the book. To give you an idea the Britannia Army List has 21 models in it, so if a player selects this nation they'll have plenty of choices to make when it comes to putting their forces together.

When we launch in November we'll have nearly all of these models designed and manufactured. Our original plan for release was 60 models ready at launch, 15 per nation, but we added 5 more to each one, and those are the models the Dystopian guys are working on now. What this allows us to do is structure a release schedule ahead of design and manufacture. What we want to do is ensure that we are on top of the four nations before we even think about the next set of nations for the game. The game will grow and we'll have a schedule of releases that should [one of those dangerous comments coming up!] keep players of Dystopian Wars satisfied.

PLEASE NOTE: The models will not be rolled out in one go! They'll be rolled out in chunks.

The Dystopian Wars focus is on establishing the first four nations: Kingdom of Britannia, Prussian Empire, Empire of the Blazing Sun and Federated States of America (FSA). We want to ensure our offering for these four has width and depth to it. This shouldn't be a problem though, as the model guys are coming up with more and ideas for these four nations each week. If they have their way you'll get 100 models per nation!

Beyond the first four nations

Yes, we already have plans for more nations, we already have designs and we already have some of the models. We will be detailing their part in the storyline, but not releasing them for a while yet. After Christmas we'll give you a schedule that will include these new races, giving you an idea of when in 2012 they'll be introduced to the plot.

Preise:

Darkover schrieb:

Darkover schrieb:
Der Maßstab ist 1:1200, also kleiner als bei UcS, was größere Schlachten ermöglich (YAY!).

What I will say is that we're not talking small models here. Battleships are roughly 4-5 inches long. The Britannian Carrier is 5 inches long and 3 inches wide and about 2 inches high, the FSA Carrier is 6 inches long and 2.5 inches wide, but it has a double deck.

Was uns sonst noch erwartet:

Zitat
Well we support stuff like:

Robots

Airships

Tanks

Walkers

Bombers

Fighters

Submarines

Torpedoes

Anti-Aircraft fire

Concussion Charges

Boarders with JetPacks

Teleporters

Generators - with a variety of technological effects

Varied Weapon Systems - we even have one that literally rubberises the enemy!

........

The rules include such things as Close Air Support rules

Bravery rules

Aircraft Fuel

Some Questions:

1.) How will land and sea battles be able to interact ? Land-based cannons should have great problems to get the same range as ship-based cannons.

The Artillery is big stuff - mobile nasties. It can reach. The Land Ships are literally that - BEHEMOTHS on tracks.

2.) Will the fighter/bomber rules be like the Firestorm rules or is there a distinct difference ? I ask, because I'm not totally convinced with the Firestorm version.

Different. Similar, but modified.

3.) Did I get the measurements right ? The battleships are bigger than the Shroud Mages battleship ? We need comparision pics

I can't remember how big the Shroud is. The Battleships are 4-5 inches. I will do some images comparing models.

4.) Are race specific card sets planned for the near future ? I really miss them in Firestorm.

Well FA is getting some. We will do ones for DW eventually, but a combined deck to start.

[...]

The Indirect Fire capability of artillery can, and will, hurt ships. The sort of stuff that will do more harm is things like Coastal Defence Batteries (just as well we made some) when they target and engage ships directly. That said, I had a game the other day and rolled a couple of Prussian Land Ships up to the coastline and blasted a few Britannian out of the water. Then Alain hit me hard with some airships, but it was worth it.

Zitat
Are Dreadnoughts the biggest ship in the game?

No.

Are battleships or carriers the primary weapon of the world's navies? And what tactics on the naval side do they employ in the Dystopian world? i.e.groups of battleships pounding each other ala Jutland or a carrier battle ala Midway? Or perhaps a myriad of naval battles as was seen in WW II ?

LOL. How much time do I need to answer that one.

Can navies do a amphibious assault? Will we have eventually merchant ships for convoys ?

Yes to both.

Will there be anything like a helicopter in the game that I can use off of a non-carrier? Will there be anything like a seaplane in the game ?

Not sure and yes.

Can a submarine in this game sink a battleship with torpedos? Can aircraft sink a battleship in this game with torpedos or bombs ?

Aha........trick question! LOL. You can kill all sorts with all sorts!

Will Godzilla attack the Empire of the Blazing Sun? Will John Carter make it to Mars? Will Dr. Frankenstein discover a butter substitute in this world or will he settle for a job in the bio-tech field ?

Hmmm, you're going to have to wait and see where we go with this stuff.

@Desaster

Danke!

On the slides that have made it to the web the Battleships are Kingdom of Britannia top left, Empire of the Blazing Sun top right, Federated States of America bottom left and Prussian Empire bottom right.

The Flying Carrier (which is 14cm long) is Prussian and the massive Land Ship is Britannian.
