Ich bin sooo hyped auf das Spiel und werde mir auf jeden Fall das 2 Player Starter Set zulegen!
Der obige Zwergen Pott, ist übrigens ein XL Schiff namens 'Dwarf Dreadnought Class'.
Ich bin auf die anderen XL Schiffe der anderen Fraktionen gespannt und ob wir auch noch Fraktionen wie Elfen sehen werden!?

Ich bin mal gespannt ob sich diese Geheimhaltung, abseits der Lizensgames, bei Mantic jetzt durchsetzt. War ja doch ziemlich überraschend das jetzt ein Schiffspiel kommt, aber kein Wunder wenn GW seit 3 Jahren Mantics Releseplan quasi abschreibt, da alles 2 Jahre im voraus bekannt war. Ich persönlich würde es aber sehr schade finden. Würde den Open Day ja massiv abwerten...

Da die Herren Renton (Mantic) und Stallard (Warlord) ja doch ein paar Jahre zusammen bei GW verbracht haben, überrascht mich die kurzfristige Übereinkunft zwecks " Schiffchen versenken " eher nicht so sehr.

 

Aber  den Meistern des Abkupferns, GW , muss man nicht zwingend alles monatelang vorher präsentieren.

Kings of War October Releases Preview

Phew… we’re only just recovering from the excitement of announcing Armada last week, but there’s no time for a rest because this week we’re looking ahead to an amazing month for Kings of War. October is going to see an absolute avalanche of releases, including a new book, new two-player starter set and TWO new hard plastic troops.

Throughout this week, we’re going to be previewing all this exciting content in excruciating detail, before pre-orders go live on the Mantic site this Friday. However, today we’ve got a short preview of everything that’s coming up in October.

HALPI’S RIFT

Halpi’s Rift is a brand-new campaign book for Kings of War, which includes rules for the using the magic bleeding into the world of Pannithor in your games! Each campaign location is affected by the magical energies running through Pannithor differently – providing players with additional location specific spells and artefacts that can be used to vanquish their foes and turn the tide of the campaign.

The increase in magical activity in these locations may also provide Spellcasters with powerful, if sometimes unpredictable, abilities. Such is the power of these magical energies, that even the nature of the battlefield terrain itself may be blessed or cursed by it, causing generals to adapt their tactics for the unique scenarios found in each location.  

The supplement also sees us continuing to move the Kings of War timeline along slightly. Long gone is the war against the Abyss and now the Abyssal Dwarfs, goblins and Ratkin are causing problems in the Halpi region. Alongside plenty of new narrative (with a main story penned by Mark Latham), Halpi’s Rift also sees the introduction of some new and returning magic users. Fans of Nomargarok, your time has come!

It’s also worth noting that Halpi’s Rift was originally going to be the basis for a global campaign, with factions fighting over the energy surging through the mountains. Although that hasn’t been possible * shakes fist at 2020 * we are still planning to use it as a basis for a campaign next year. So, buy the book and get practising.

If you simply can’t wait to get more info on Halpi’s Rift, the delectable Steve Hildrew has filmed a play through with the equally delightful Matt James.

WAR IN THE HOLDS

A new supplement isn’t the only big release for October because we’ve got an amazing new two-player set featuring the all-new hard plastic goblins and * drum roll please * hard plastic Ratkin. That’s right, the ratties are officially making their way into Kings of War as a Mantic army. The Ratkin will be released as a full army in early 2021, so this is a great opportunity to be among the first to grab some and start your furry army.

Inside the two-player set is 40 hard plastic goblins, an exclusive resin Wiz, three trolls, 40 hard plastic Ratkin, a Night Terror and an exclusive resin Warlock. Plus, there’s a Gamer’s Edition rulebook and a special War in the Holds getting started booklet.

We’ll have more on War in the Holds later this week, along with a closer look at those amazing Ratkin.

GOBLINS! GOBLINS! GOBLINS!

Although the new hard plastic Ratkin aren’t getting a full army release until early 2021 (although they can definitely be boosted with the sci-fi Veer-myn range), the goblins are most certainly getting their time to shine.

The new hard plastic means we’re able to produce a refreshed army set and mega army. The latter is extremely exciting because it now includes a giant. That’s right, you get a whopping big giant in the mega army.

We’ll have a much closer look at the goblins soon! So, as you can see, there’s plenty of excitement for Kings of War just around the corner. What are you most excited about? The correct answer is goblins.

Rob here and I’ll warn you now, I’m about to get very carried away about goblins. If you’ve been following Mantic for a while you’ll know that I love goblins almost as much as my own children – which is going to be embarrassing in a few year’s time when they start searching the internet.

 

Since I started hobbying back in 1991, I was immediately enchanted by the little green menaces. Perhaps it’s my own diminutive height or my natural cunning and love for explosives, but there was something that truly appealed about goblins.

 

Of course, when I came to my senses and discovered Kings of War all those years later, I immediately gravitated to goblins. And, even better, they now had their own army – I didn’t have to buddy up with those brutish, stupid orcs. There was just one slight problem, the original hard plastic goblins from Mantic were an… acquired taste. Yes, I persevered and painted 200 of the little swines but, in my heart, I always knew the goblins deserved better.

 

Now, despite the fact that 2020 has been terrible for so many other reasons, it will be remembered as the year Mantic released the finest hard plastic goblins ever… and I’m not even joking. Just look at that video below and tell me you’re not excited.

Mir gefällt dieser zusammengeklaute Look richtig gut. Wenn die Ratten so ähnlich werden, muss ich richtig stark bleiben. Ich hab hier noch 140 unbemalte Klanratten liegen...

Ich muss sie und ihre Kleidung mal im Detail sehen. Ich hatte mal die Überlegung, aus so Ratten ohne Schwänze Ghule (für Untote) bauen zu können indem man den Kopf ersetzt, aber noch kann ich nicht sagen, ob sie sich eignen.

Die Goblins gefallen mir gut genug für einen Zukauf. Bei Mantic ist das... selten.

 

Was ich nicht verstehe ist, wieso da so viele Teile gedoppelt sind. Ich habe eine massive Bitzbox, deswegen stört es mich nicht übermäßig. Trotzdem ist copy&paste beim Gussrahmendesign... nicht so prall.

Tja. Ich habe bisher nur sehr sehr wenige GW Gobbos bemalt für meine grüne Horde und es sieht für mich aus, als würde ich in diesem Fall vollständig auf Mantic umsteigen.

As you may or may not know, the UK is back in lockdown from today. Just like the previous lockdown, we are following government guidelines to ensure the safety of customers and staff. We hope you all stay safe in these difficult times and hopefully take the opportunity to get a few hobby projects finished… or even start a new one!

 

ARMADA
Once the lockdown was announced, we’ve had a few messages about the Armada launch and whether the new restrictions will affect the releases. As you can imagine delivering a huge project like Armada, while in a global pandemic, and keeping everyone safe has kept us very busy.

We have taken on extra space, separate from the main building, to give us a secure and safe space to make all the resin we need for this first wave. We have also added a cool and clever new resin machine (which was really easy to set up and we definitely didn’t have the engineers back six times!).

With new safe workflows and by keeping the machines running over a longer part of the day we have increased output by over 600% for the last 2 weeks – and we need it to stay that way for the next 2 as well to get everything manufactured!

Delivery of the boxes are arriving each day, and small teams are getting the other components prepared for the final packaging process, which should take up all of the Mantic team for all of next week – all done in social distanced, and safe environment.

On the week of 16th November we will be shipping out to stores and web pre-orders ready for launch on the 21st. Exciting times – and please keep checking in on the blog for updates and you can keep up with everything Armada-related here.

 

THE WEBSITE
Even while getting Armada ready, we will continue to ship web orders – they just might take a little longer to leave the warehouse than normal. We’ve recently had a restock on paints and general hobby supplies, so if you’re planning on starting a new project, make sure you get an order in quick. We’ve also got plenty (mostly) of armies in stock and ready to ship too! So what better time to start working on a new Kings of War army?

Of course, keeping our staff safe is just part of our anti-COVID measures and we’re working hard to keep customers safe too.

– We’re going above and beyond guidelines for maintaining safety when picking and packing orders. There’s handwash absolutely everywhere and all the team have masks and gloves that are required to be worn at all time

– Orders are collected at structured set times, so there’s no contact between the various courier companies either
