Verplante Einzelstücke. Archer Kell und Marauder Carlyle. Der Battlemaster soll das gleiche Farbschema bekommen wie der erste Mech, den ich je bemalt habe. Das Trebuchet ist der Mech meines Söldnerkommandanten als er noch bei den 1st Hussars (FRR) war. Der Vulture ist sein persönlicher Mech nach 3055. Werde ich eventuell in die A-Konfiguration umbauen, wenn ich mich traue. Aber ich muss auf jeden Fall die Pose korrigieren, sieht aus wie Skoliosis. Der Cyclops ist der Mech meines Canon-Characters. Der Stalker wird in den Farben unserer alten MechForce-Einheit bemalt.

 

Bei den Einheiten für's P250 stört mich ein wenig, dass ich da 6 Modelle brauche. Bei den Ghost Bears ist das okay da der Kodiak ein Second Liner ist und der Rest Omnis. Bei den Falcons wüsste ich auch nicht, was ich rausnehmen sollte. Den Smoke Jaguars nehme ich vielleicht die Adder weg und mach stattdessen Minotaur ProtoMechs. Dann könnte ich mir einen netten 13th Wolf Guard Stern bauen - Dire Wolf Kerensky, Timber Wolf, Timber Wolf, Linebacker, Adder. Einen Timber Wolf zu Konfiguration A oder C umbauen... Hmmm

Das täuscht. Die Clanner sind grob ein Cluster, und die Inner Sphere Mechs ein verstärktes Bataillon

Das ist die Clan Wolf Challenge Coin, aus irgendeinem Grund haben die da auf die Rückseite Mechbilder gemacht.

Hab gestern mal die letzte Ladung aus dem Entfärbebad geholt:

 

Corvis, Mad Dog, Supernova, Galahad, Firemoth, Howler und Ebon Jaguar.

 

Ich werde mir ausserdem wohl heute ein paar Kleinigkeiten von Ral Partha Europe bestellen, IWM liefert weiterhin nicht nach Neuseeland. Ich denke es wird der fehlende Raptor, Epona Tanks, Jagatai OmniJäger und vielleicht noch Saladins oder Kanazuchi BAs. Muss ich mal im Detail durchrechnen.

 

Nächstes Jahr macht CGL wohl ihr eigenes Vetriebszentrum in Australien auf, dann sollten sich die Versandkosten für Plastik-Mechs und Bücher deutlich reduzieren.

 

Am Sonntag ist mal wieder spielen angesagt, 12K Clans. Muss ich mir mal eine Liste ausdenken.

Soweit ich weiß ist das so eine offizielle rechtliche Trennung, Iron Wind Metals (ehem. original RalPartha) macht nur noch US, RalPartha Europe den Rest der Welt. Kann dir allerdings nicht sagen ob die jeweils auf die gleichen Gussformen zugreifen können oder seit der Trennung eigene Modelle produzieren.

Fahrzeuge für die Omega Keshik, ein Strahl Omni-Jäger und ein paar Mecha um Lücken in der Sammlung zu füllen.

Ist mir recht unklar warum ich keinen Cestus habe. Das ist ein Mech der mir auf Anhieb gefällt, Gauss und schwere Laser sind genau mein Ding.

Meine Frau hat neuerdings die Ahnenforschung fuer sich entdeckt, und herausgefunden das weite Teile ihrer Famili aus 2 1/2 Doerfern in Somerset kommen. Und bei Somerset sollte es ja bei jedem ordentlichen BattleTech-Fan klingeln

 

 

Die 1st Somerset Strikers sind eine interessante Sache im Canon-Kontext. Da die Anime-Serie einiges an kuenstlerischer Freiheit aufweist, wurde das so geloest, dass es im BattleTech-Universum die 1st Somerset Strikers als Einheit gibt, aber auch eine Anime-Serie, die auf deren Geschichte basiert. Also unsere Anime-Serie IRL ist dieselbe Anime-Serie, die es im BattleTech-Universum gibt, die aber nicht historisch korrekt ist.

 

Der Hauptcharakter, Adam Steiner, spielt spaeter eine wichtige Rolle im FedCom Civil War und wird sogar zweimal Archon - einmal fuer ein paar Wochen in 3071 als Peter Steiner-Davion von Word of Blake gefangen gehalten wurde, und dann nochmal ab 3074 nachdem Peter gestorben ist.

Okay, auf der Arbeit ist momentan alles A.... also komm ich zu nicht viel.

Immerhin bin ich fast durch, alle Soeldner-Kommandos fuer 3025 zu listen, sind einige. Ich glaub es sind auch ein paar, die ich in die ersten beiden Wellen retconnen muss. Ansonsten werden einige in der 3. und 4. Welle verheizt zum Einsatz kommen, inklusive einiger Gegenangriffe.

 

Die dritte Welle beinhaltet den Angriff der Jadefalken auf Tamar, da muss ich aufpassen, dass ich das richtig hinbekomme. Duerfte so ziemlich das wichtigste Ereignis dieser Welle werden.

Ich hab heute Decals bestellt, Smoke Jaguar und Coyote Delta Galaxy für's P250, und Grave Walkers. Über die hab ich gerade für die Timeline gelesen, und ich glaube das ist eine der wichtigsten Söldnereinheiten die keiner kennt. Ist irgendwie komisch dass es diese ganzen grossen Einheiten gibt (Lexington Combat Group, Illician Lancers, Blue Star Irregulars) die keiner so richtig kennt weil sie keine prominente Rolle im Fluff spielen.

Die Grave Walkers haben ausserdem ein relativ einfaches Farbschema, da kann ich mir mal eine Lanze aus den Resten zusammensuchen.

 

Für Tamar hab ich jetzt einen kompletten Plan, und werde das als nächstes schreiben. Mal sehen was die Elite des Söldnertums so gegen die Jadefalken ausrichten kann.

What if... Part 5: The Battle of Tamar (April 22 - 25, 3023)

Tamar, the historical capital and economic centre of the Tamar Pact and the Tamar Theatre, is the first major Lyran world threatened by the Jade Falcon invasion. Archon Katrina Steiner decreed that the planet would be reinforced and defended by any means necessary. Traditionally, the world was held by the 26th Lyran Guard, supported by the Kelswa House Guard and the Tamar War College Training Battalion. The LCAF reinforced these troops with a host of mercenary commands, including both regiments of the Grave Walkers and the Stealthy Tigers.

 

Lieutenant General Woodruff Patterson, commander of the 26th Lyran Guard, is assigned overall command of the defences. Nevertheless, Duke Selvin Kelswa III proves himself as a constant distraction, demanding consultation on and inclusion in all military decisions. This leads to friction between him and the other commanders, and especially Colonel Merwin of the Grave Walkers takes repeated offence at the Duke’s criticism. On the other hand, Colonel Bob Vermithrax of the Stealthy Tigers is a staunch Tamar Pact nationalist and sides with the Duke. Caught between these factions is a host of smaller mercenary commands, including the Kell Hounds, Killian’s Commandos and the Guardians of Cameron.

 

This rift is still prominent when the Jade Falcon Galaxy, led by the Turkina Keshik and Khan Yvonne Hazen herself, arrives in the system on April 15th, 3023. Khan Hazen’s Batchall is received on the same day, leading to a heated dispute between Duke Kelswa and Lieutenant General Patterson about who and how it should be answered. Eventually, Selvin Kelswa III sends his reply without Patterson’s knowledge or approval, stating he will defend the planet with the 26th Lyran Guard, his household troops and 4 regiments of mercenaries. After a short bidding between the Jade Falcon commanders, the Turkina Keshik is committed along elements of all Frontline Jade Falcon Galaxy clusters, under the command of Khan Hazen. The Jade Falcons fight a short engagement against aerospace forces of the Lyran Guard on April 22nd, and land their troops the following day.

 

In the meantime, the situation among the defenders becomes more strained. Colonel Vermithrax openly supports Duke Kelswa’s role as leader of the defence and refuses to accept orders from Patterson. In an all-night war council, the Duke and the Lieutenant General finally come to an agreement: The Duke will have control of his House troops, the War College Training Battalion, the Stealthy Tigers and Killian’s Commandos, and will form a secondary defence line around Tamar City, while Patterson will lead his unit, the Grave Walkers and the remaining mercenaries to engage the Jade Falcons after they land.

The Guardians of Cameron act as a picket line to monitor the Jade Falcon landing zone and movements, but they are quickly pushed away by the 7th Falcon Regulars. Khan Hazen then forms up her Turkina Keshik and the Jade Falcon Guard as a spear tip to drive through the Lyran defences at Shonick Dale. The 26th Lyran Guard and the Second Regiment of the Grave Walkers, together with conventional support units, prepared a formidable defence system, and even after activating the 9th Talon Cluster, the Falcons repeatedly fail to punch through.

 

Clan Elementals infiltrate the defence lines in the dark of night and cause severe damage to tank and infantry formations. At the same time, small teams of mercenaries raid the Jade Falcon field repair and supply bases in an effort to disrupt their operations. In one of these raids, the Guardians of Cameron attack an ammunition train attached to the Jade Falcon Guard. Grayson Carlyle, assigned as support tech to the unit, uses the opportunity to escape from his captors.

 

In the early hours of April 24th, the Jade Falcon Guard and Turkina Keshik again clash with the 26th Lyran Guard. This time, the Falcons achieve a breakthrough. The Falcon Guards leads a push northwards towards Smitton with the aim of attacking Tamar City itself, followed by the Turkina Keshik and the 9th Talon Cluster. Between them and their goal lays a belt of thick forests some twenty kilometres deep. Meanwhile, the 26th Lyran Guard reinforces their lines and prevents the 3rd Falcon Talon Cluster and 7th Falcon Regulars Cluster from exploiting the gap. Despite the risk of getting cut off from their landing zone, the Jade Falcon Guard charges ahead without giving much thoughts to reconnaissance. They are promptly ambushed by both regiments of the Grave Walkers who took up concealed positions during the night. Without being able to take advantage of their superior range, and outnumbered 4 to 1, they are slaughtered. The Turkina Keshik engages the Grave Walkers in an attempt to open up an escape route for the Guard, but being hampered by the dense terrain, they take heavy casualties and retire after their leader, Star Colonel Elias Crichell, is killed. The Grave Walkers push the remaining Jade Falcons back to Shonick Dale, and they end the day in almost the exact positions they started at.

 

At the same time, the Kell Hounds intercept a wide flanking manoeuvre of elements of the 12th Falcon Regulars and engage in a fierce running battle. With nightfall, both sides retire for much needed repairs and resupply.

 

The opponents use the hours of darkness to lick their wounds, and no significant action takes place during the night. Khan Hazen, infuriated by the death of her protégé, declares all enemy forces on Tamar dezgra, and instructs her troops to engage them with extreme prejudice. She also calls in reinforcements and develops a new plan to destroy the opposition. The 7th and 12th Regulars board their dropships at first light on April 25th. All of the Jade Falcon aerospace forces are committed to a bombing run against Tamar City, dropping large numbers of FASCAM and incendiary bombs on mostly civilian targets. Directly after this terror attack, the Jade Falcons perform a low altitude combat drop into the heart of the capital.

 

At the same time, the Turkina Keshik leads the remaining Jade Falcon forces against the Grave Walkers’ second regiment, and in a display of their proverbial fury, the Clanners wipe the mercenaries out in less than an hour. After this, the Turkina Keshik begins a run towards Tamar City, while the rest of the Falcons pivots to face the arriving Lyran reinforcements in form of the battered 26th Lyran Guard and the remaining Grave Walkers.

 

Meanwhile at Tamar City, the Kelswa Guards and Tamar War College Training Battalion are taken completely by surprise by the dawn attack and quickly fragment into isolated points of resistance. Confusion and a breakdown of the chain of command delays the response of the Stealthy Tigers, who took up positions outside the city walls. After almost an hour of brutal urban warfare, the survivors inside the city are called to regroup on the grounds of the ducal palace. Here, a small number of surviving Kelswa House Guards and War College students meet with the first battalion of the Stealthy Tigers and form a defensive perimeter. In other parts of the burning city, Killian’s Commando are overwhelmed by the attackers, and the second battalion of the Stealthy Tigers is besieged by the 12th Falcon Regulars at the space port.

 

The Turkina Keshik reaches the outskirts of Tamar City and is engaged by the third battalion of the Stealthy Tigers, supported by a large formation of armour and infantry. The mercenaries are no match for the elite of Clan Jade Falcon, and OmniFighter attacks quickly scatter the conventional troops. The Stealthy Tigers’ second battalion performs a daring break-out to link up with the defenders at the palace, but does not arrive in time to prevent the 7th Regulars from breaching the walls. Duke Kelswa is killed at the controls of his Atlas, and his death sends a wave of panic through the defenders, which is amplified when it becomes clear that the Turkina Keshik is quickly approaching their positions. Only the timely intervention of the Kell Hounds, who ignore their clear orders not to interfere with the defence of Tamar City, allows the disorganized remnants of House Kelswa troops and mercenaries to escape, leaving the smouldering ruins of the palace behind. The Kell Hounds pay a great price for their actions. During their bold attack against the Turkina Keshik, Patrick Kell’s Thunderbolt suffers a catastrophic ammunition explosion, killing him instantly.

 

At Shonick Dale, the 26th Lyran Guard and Grave Walkers eventually gain the upper hand against the 3rd and 9th Talon Clusters. Their efficient use of conventional troops and prepared positions, together with extensive minefields and artillery strikes, whittles down the enemy’s numbers. When news from Tamar City reach Lieutenant General Patterson, he orders his last reserves into the fray with the intention of cutting the Jade Falcons off from their dropships.

Outside of Tamar City, tensions between the Kell Hounds and the survivors from the Palace Grounds run high. Salome Ward, who took command after Patrick Kell’s death, insists to lead the survivors south to deliver a coup de main against the Falcons there. Colonel Vermithrax of the Stealthy Tigers on the other hands demands that the Kell Hounds engage the Jade Falcons still rampaging through the City. Eventually, Vermithrax attempts to pull rank over Ward, which leads to threats of violence from some more hot-headed Kell Hounds. Before the situation can escalate further, Ward leads her troops south. Colonel Vermithrax organizes his remaining forces and leads an ad-hoc reinforced battalion back into the city.

 

The arrival of the Kell Hounds at Shonick Dale tips the scales in favour of the defenders, but they fail to drive a wedge between the Falcons and their landing zone. Instead, the Talon Clusters seek shelter under the formidable weapons of their dropships.

 

At Tamar City, a deadly cat-and-mouse game takes place between small units of Stealthy Tigers and Kelswa Guards, and the Jade Falcons. Despite taking horrific losses in their near-suicidal attacks, the Inner Sphere troops keep constant pressure on the Jade Falcons. Khan Hazen soon realizes that her plan has failed, and that half of her force is stranded in an urban hellscape without the ability to repair and resupply. During the night, the Falcons draw back to the space port, and at dawn, the 3rd and 9th Talon Clusters board their dropships and make the short suborbital flight to Tamar City. For a short time, the defenders worry that the Jade Falcons would dig in in the ruins of the capital, but before noon, the Jade Falcon dropships lift off. The invasion of Tamar has failed.

 

The costs for the first victory against the invading Clans are high. With Duke Kelswa killed, and his wife and daughter missing, presumed dead, the Kelswa line has come to an end. The 26th Lyran Guard is mauled with over 50% casualties, the Grave Walkers lost more than 4 battalions of troops. The Stealthy Tigers are reduced to two companies of Mechs, and Colonel Vermithrax pushed for a court martial against Salome Ward and the Kell Hounds for disobedience. This is quickly shut down by Lieutenant General Patterson by pointing out that the Kell Hounds were bound by a contract that explicitly excludes entering Tamar City. The decision to do so anyway was made by the late Patrick Kell, meaning that Salome Ward did nothing wrong.

 

The Falcons are equally hurt when they leave the planet. The Jade Falcon Guard has been wiped out to the last man. The Turkina Keshik lost their commanding officer and close confidant of their Khan, and suffered greatly from the fighting in Tamar City. The 3rd and 9th Talon Clusters lost 50% of the committed forces, and the 7th and 12th Falcon Regulars are down to 65% combat efficiency. Khan Yvonne Hazen’s reputation takes a critical hit, and in the direct aftermath of the Tamar attack she is challenged and disposed by saKhan Sejanus Buhallin in a Trial of Possession she does not survive. Galaxy Commander Maria Pryde of Peregrine Galaxy becomes new saKhan.

 

After the Battle of Tamar a vast amount of Clan Technology is salvaged from the battlefields. While most of it is sent to Tharkad and Hesperus IV for analysis, Colonel Merwin and Colonel Vermithrax both received ClanTech as a bonus for their service. In the aftermath, the Stealthy Tigers leave the Lyran Commonwealth to seek employment with the Free World’s League. The Grave Walkers absorb survivors from smaller outfits, including Grayson Carlyle and Davis McCall, to reform an understrength second regiment. Both the Grave Walkers and the Kell Hounds accept long-term garrison contracts on Tamar, and are reinforced by the Always Faithful and Mobile Fire mercenary unit and the 3rd Lyran Guard. Lieutenant General Patterson is appointed as interim military governor.

Ach, das hat Spass gemacht.

Ich hab mich natuerlich stark an der originalen Schlacht orientiert, und die Schauplaetze sind dieselben, nur halt mit Falken statt Woelfen.

Duke Kelswa und seine Truppen erleiden dasselbe Schicksal wie zuvor, nur 27 Jahre frueher.

Auf der anderen Seite erlebt die Falcon Guard hier ihre Version von Twycross.

Und es war mir ein Vergnuegen Elias Crichell im Nebensatz abzuwickeln. 

Ach ja, Grayson Carlyle ist zurueck, allerdings gibt es trotzdem keine GDL.

 

Mal sehen ob Tamar das Wolcott dieser Zeitschiene werden kann. Leider hat noch keiner das Batchall-System so weit durchschaut, dass die Lyraner ein paar kluge Forderungen haetten stellen koennen. Die Falken koennen also eigentlich jederzeit zurueckkommen - aber werden sie das riskieren?

Wilkommen zu meinem neuen BattleTech-Projekt!

Mein Ziel ist es, meine umfassende Sammlung an Mechs, Gefechtsrüstungen, Fahrzeugen und Luft/Raum-Jägern aufzufrischen und zu vervollständingen.

 

 

BattleTech war meine erste grosse Wargaming-Liebe. Ich habe entweder im Sommer 1993 oder 1994 auf einer Klassenfahrt “Clankrieger” von Robert Thurston gekauft, und dann war es um mich geschehen. Es folgt die gute alte Mechs!-Box, und der Plastik-Battlemaster war eine der ersten Minis, die ich je bemalt habe (der verdient auch seinen eigenen Post später). Irgendwann fand ich ein paar andere Leute, die BT mochten, und wir haben angefangen zu zocken (ausserdem war es grossartig spät in der Nacht leicht stark angetrunken die politischen Feinheiten der Inner Sphere zu diskutieren!). Ach ja, die gute alte Zeit mit MechForce Germany und RatCon!

Da ist man auch schonmal an einem Tag 350 km zum Chapterfight gefahren, hat 5 Stunden Püppchen geschubst, und ist dann mitten in der Nacht 350 km zurückgeballert.

Und nebenbei haben wir natürlich auch MechWarrior RPG, BattleTech TCG, MechCommander 1&2 und MechWarrior 1-4 gespielt.

 

 

FASA Corp ging 2001 von uns, und 2002 war mit Endgame dann auch Schluss mit der Romanserie,. Dann ist die Szene aber irgendwie eingeschlafen, und ich habe mich auch mehr anderen Dingen gewidmet.

So, ich nahm mir mal die Zeit deinen Eingangspost zu lesen. ?

Ersetze 1993 mit 1997 und du hast auch meine BT-Geschichte. Abzüglich des Alkohols bei politischen Diskussionen, ich trinke nichts. ?

Ich war allerdings nicht in der MechForce sondern in einer der vielen (?) Nachfolge(?)-Organisationen, nannte sich NiceDice. Es muss da vor meiner Zeit mal einen ,,Finanzskandal“ bei der MechForce Germany gegeben haben. Veruntreuung von Vereinsgeldern oder so, alles über 20 Jahre altes nur halb verstandenes  Hörensagen. ?

Da sind schon einige Schätze dabei! Hast du die unter Stasis in einem vergessenen Sternenbund-Depot gefunden? Für die Bücher würde ich die Nieren und Kinder anderer Forumsteilnehmer hergeben! ?

Und gerade das Erste Buch schreit sowas von 80er! Oberlippenbart, Schulterpolster, Vokuhila und Stirnband! Und dann Herscher der Menschheit sein! ? Sehr geil!

Und weiter geht's.

 

Unsere kleine Spielergruppe hat jetzt eine Söldner-Kampagne angefangen, und in bester deutscher Gründlichkeit hab ich jetzt eine Fire Support Lance aus 4 Trebuchets. Im ersten Trainingsspiel gegen unsere Striker Lance hab ich schnell gelernt, dass ich alles unter 50 Tonnen relativ einfach wegmachen kann, aber alles über 50 Tonnen ein Problem ist. Ausserdem ist ein einzelner Ammo-Crit im linken Torso ziemlich tödlich.

 

Die Kampagne hat mich dann motiviert, mal meine 6mm Restbestände zu durchforsten und ein paar Fahrzeuge zu bemalen:

 

 

Hauptsächlich Fahrzeuge um Konvois und ähnliches darzustellen. Ein ziviler Helikopter, ein Aufklärungsflieger, und ein paar Namers als Tracked APCs.
